Newsweek sprach mit Jason Calacanis, der im vergangenen Oktober sein Weblog-Netzwerk Weblogsinc. für 25 Millionen Dollar an AOL verkauft hat. Calacanis leitet das Blog-Unternehmen nach wie vor selber, betont aber, dass AOL ihm nicht sage, was er zu tun habe. Sein Top-Blogger Peter Rojas beispielsweise, sei freier denn je:

«Now he has the freedom to say that [a company] sucks. Mainstream journalists, with very few exceptions, don’t have the ability to use that word. Journalists are rebels – they’re supposed to be fighting against the Empire and getting the truth.»
