„In Code and Other Laws of Cyberspace, Lawrence Lessig describes four types of constraints that regulate behavior on the Internet: legal, normative, market and architectural. While he described a number of the laws that had been passed, I felt there could have been more detail on the specific controlling technologies – „code laws“ – that have been implemented. Furthermore, I thought it would be useful to start to measure how pervasive these code laws are, i.e., how much technological overhead can be attributed to control and policy enforcement technologies. So I put together a survey of technologies substantially involved in regulating the Internet, i.e. the „code laws“ of cyberspace.“ (Bill Fitler)
