Flat Screen World

Wired: A Flat, Flat, Flat Screen World
„“Eventually, consumers are going to want flat screens, but few will make their purchase based on the monitor,“ said Jed Kolko, a PC market analyst with Forrester. „Most people upgrade based on memory, speed and drives. Monitors are way down on the list. Some care more about design, but those are the people attracted to Apple anyway.“
Haruki agrees. „I don’t think the iMac will act as any sort of significant force compelling people to buy flat screens, in and of itself,“ he said. „What’s going to really drive it is price, and iMac is not really a value product.“
According to Haruki’s projections, the big winner in the flat screen market five years down the road is the same company that dominates stand-alone monitor sales today: Dell.“
